Pre-Kindergarten

Classroom Objectives: 
  • To prepare children for Kindergarten by emphasizing social and academic readiness.
  • To help the children develop age-appropriate social skills.

Teaching Focus:

  • Emphasize pre-Kindergarten skills such as name writing, letter recognition, phonemic awareness, number recognition and following directions. 
  • Providing a safe setting which encourages the children to develop their social skills, experience independence and develop a positive self-image
  • Providing a loving, fun and nurturing environment for all children.

  • Harvest Party and Dress Up 
  • Thanksgiving Feast
  • Christmas Holiday Party
  • Valentine’s Day Party
  • Easter Egg Hunt and party
  • End of the Year Pizza Party
  • Graduation Program 

Daily Schedule:

 

9:00 – 10:00 - Centers

  • (9 centers consisting of Language Arts, Science, Reading, Building, Computer, Art, Craft, Dramatic Play and Math).  Children rotate throughout the week

10:00 – 10:25 - Circle time

  • Attendance, Calendar, Weather, and Discussion time about topic of the week along with music, story, and/or large group experiments.

10:25 – 10:35 - Bathroom

10:35 – 10:45 - Snack

10:45 – 11:00 - Letter of the Week Writing Lesson, ABC cheer (phonic cheer), and the Chicka Boom Tree

11:00 – 11:25 - Centers and/or Bible & Music on Wed. & Thurs.

 11:25 – 11:30 - Bathroom

11:30 – 11:55 - Recess

11:55 – 12:00 - Wash hands

12:00 – 12:30 - Lunch

12:30 - Early dismissal and Bathroom for those staying for all day Pre-K

12:35 – 1:00 - Bible Lesson (story)

1:00 – 1:45 - Open centers tailored for afternoon lessons

1:45 – 2:00 - Circle time

  • Discussing what we learned for the day. Reciting stories and songs. We will also use this time to allow the children to share their thoughts with each other. This will be set up like a little round table.

2:00 - Dismissal
